About Lists
Format Your ListCreating a simple list for use with Openfax is easy. All that is required is a list of fax numbers in a single column. Fax numbers may be formatted in either 10 or 11 digit format, as long as all faxes within the broadcast are being sent to North American destinations. If you are faxing outside of North America, all North American numbers must be prefixed with a one (1). You do not have to remove any dots, dashes, or parenthesis that may exist in your numbers.
Customize Your HeadersA second column as illustrated is used as a “To” field. This field appears at the top of your fax in the header near the time and date stamp of the fax. The “To” reference will also appear on your call detail report (CDR). Using a To field helps personalize each fax as well as helps better understand CDR reporting. | Creating a Mail Merge ListMail merge allows you to personalize each fax that is sent with recipient specific information. You are limited to a total of 20 custom fields. Download a sample csv list file for a mail merge fax broadcast. Openfax provides up to 5 custom fields for free. Refer to your Openfax agreement for merge orders in excess of five fields for pricing details. |
Removing Duplicate Entries and Block ListsOpenfax will allow you to upload up to six separate lists to be used with the same broadcast. You have the option to remove duplicate fax numbers across all lists of the order before broadcasting when placing the fax broadcast request. You may optionally upload additional block lists in the same format which each broadcast. Openfax will remove any fax number listed in your block prior to broadcasting your order. Your list may be saved as a Microsoft® Excel® document, however it is recommended that a comma separated value (CSV) file is used.
